Rainier Sunday : The air was so clear and beautiful I could see Rainier on the horizon 77 miles away. I wanted to get a clear picture - but everywhere I tried was either behind tall trees or had power lines blocking the view. I thought one of the state parks would have a clear view - I went to several and saw some lush paths and great views of the green river but no view of Mt. Rainier. I turned on the GPS and just headed toward the mountain taking back country roads all the way - finally about 40 miles away I started to get some beautiful shots. I took winding foothills logging roads and saw some fantastic vistas - but there was nowhere to pull over and take a shot. (Recommend using Slideshow above) Enjoy! -m

2008-11-22 Marsh Island (Seattle) : I took a stroll through Marsh island right at sunset. They raise the water level so they can keep the Chittenden locks open all the time so I stayed on the dry paths and bridges. Fall has faded to winter and the ground was thick with leaves.

2008-04-26, Sierra Madre Wildfire : I was helping friends evacuate their home from the Sierra Madre Wildfires - it looked like they had the fire beat back pretty well but it found new fuel and gained ground, forcing the evacuation of about 1000 people. The firefighters were amazing with their coordination, skill, and bravery.

2007-11-05, Kirkland Fall Leaves : These were the last leaves of fall - i stopped on a cold drizzly drive to work through Bridle Trails and saw this long driveway covered with the last leaves. The leaves on green moss were on top of a little mailbox shelter.

2006-12-14,Scary drive to work : Huge winter windstorm, days without power, this is what it lookd like on my way to work - lots scarier stuff I was just too focused on driving to take more. Big house and tiny house came through in pretty good shape - a few small trees down, some dented shingles and branches and leaves on the deck but considering the neighborhood - I felt really good.
